We are a niche, disruptive publishing house in the United Arab Emirates, working across Asia and the world to disseminate and distribute transgressive voices. Our publications are conceived as ‘stacks’ of information, snapshots of time, and prophecies into the future rather than definitive objects of knowledge.
Hyper House Publishing also works as a publishing studio and consultancy to support and collaborate with post-western and post-ideological thinkers. We distribute books by artists and independent publishers through a lo-fi method to foreground publisher-to-reader pathways. Who is Hyper House Publishing
We are an editorial practice and extension of Ahmad Makia, a cultural geographer, bookmaker and author. Spending much of his time thinking about deep-time philosophies, embodying psychedelic states or researching totemic environmental practices, Ahmad is interested in Arab and Islamic cultural geographies, queer expressions, geologic timescales, materialist philosophies and interdisciplinary, intersectional methods. Professionally, Ahmad works as an art book professional and editor. At the same time, he publishes independently, having co-founded pirate publishing projects THE STATE, ZIGG, and Dubailand. He currently also serves as head of publishing at Sharjah Art Foundation and architecture & design editor at Kaph Books. His work has been exhibited in the Porto Design Biennial, Lahore Biennial, and Oslo Architecture Triennial.
